In this article we look at how to make Bulletproof coffee – one of the staple recipes of the Keto diet
So what exactly is Bulletproof coffee?
Basically it is a combination of butter, coconut oil or you can use MCT oil and coffee. In recent years it has quite often become a cup of coffee with some sort of fat added to it
The original bulletproof coffee was the following
Bulletproof coffee is a breakfast drink that some claim boosts energy, improves focus, and makes you feel full.
The original bulletproof coffee was the following created by the Bulletproof brand which used a recipe of 2 cups coffee, 2 tablespoons grass-fed butter , and 2 tablespoons MCT oil this is commonly known as the trademark term “Brain Octane.”
As you can see this is meant for a breakfast meal replacement and not to replace your usual breakfast that you may have

If you have ever wanted to try Bulletproof Coffee at home, this is the recipe for you. You can of course use your favorite coffee which is an added advantage
2 cups of your choice of Brewed Coffee
2 tablespoons of grass fed unsalted butter
2 tablespoons Organic Coconut Oil
Brew 2 cups of your favorite coffee and add to a mixing bowl and then add the unsalted butter and coconut oil and mix with a blender on high speed for 20 seconds until it foams up on top. Enjoy
You can also add a few extras to pep up your coffee if you want
There are many options to the basic recipe
This mixes well with the coffee and butter to give your coffee a great taste. It is also appears to be beneficial for weight loss.
You can replace the coconut oil with MCT oil. MCTs, or medium-chain triglycerides, are a form of fat that may help you lose weight and manage certain health conditions.
Some people prefer MCT oil some prefer coconut oil – I’ve tried both and can easily drink them.
If need to sweeten the recipe then the best artificial sweetener is Stevia. You can even get several flavored stevia liquid drops which I have tried including a caramel one.
Himalayan pink salt
A little pinch of this type of salt can be very good for your health. Unlike table salt which has many of the beneficial minerals removed Himalayan salt is mined from ancient sea beds.
It provides a massive 84 trace minerals, plus a unique ionic energy that is released when the salt is mixed with water.
1 teaspoon of this can add a nice subtle taste to your coffee
A lot of people add 2 teaspoons of heavy cream to their coffee – not something I do but you may want to try this
Again a popular addition is 1 teaspoon of cacao powder – I didn’t like this as it seemed to make the coffee a little bit bitter but you can always try it and see what you think
Some folks add a scoop of protein powder to their coffee, this means of course you have options of unflavored or flavored and vegan or non vegan varieties. Just remember and mix it up well.
